The county town is where a lot of our moves start and finish — the Victorian terraces up towards Christchurch Park, the new apartments on the Waterfront and around the marina, and the family homes out to Kesgrave and Rushmere. The town one-way system and the Waterfront’s permit parking are the two things worth planning for, and we do. South of Ipswich we cover Hadleigh, Capel and the Shotley peninsula down towards the water.
Bury St Edmunds & the west
Bury is a handsome market town, and moving within it means the narrow Georgian streets around the Abbey Gardens and the Arc, plus the newer estates out towards Moreton Hall. West Suffolk spreads from here — Stowmarket, the villages along the A14, and the racing country towards Newmarket. We keep our Bury coverage as a hub for the wider west of the county.
Lowestoft & the coast
Britain’s most easterly town has its own character — the seafront terraces, the harbour, and the roads up towards Oulton Broad. The Suffolk coast runs south from here through the Heritage Coast: Southwold with its narrow lanes and beach huts, Aldeburgh on the shingle, and Beccles inland on the Waveney. Seafront and permit parking is the norm on the coast, and we check it before the day.
Felixstowe & the ports
Felixstowe is two things at once — the UK’s biggest container port, and a proper Victorian seaside town beside it. We move households in the seafront houses along the front and out on the peninsula, and businesses around the port and the A14 approach. The single road on and off the peninsula shapes the timing, so we plan around it.
Sudbury & the Stour valley
Gainsborough’s home town sits on the Stour with its water meadows and old silk-weaving streets. It’s a south-Suffolk hub that reaches into the Essex border villages, and the historic centre means narrow lanes and tight access on plenty of moves — the kind of thing a county firm plans for rather than discovers on the day.
Newmarket & the racing country
Newmarket is the home of horse racing, and moving here means the Heath, the studs, and the trainers’ yards off the A14 and A11 towards the Cambridgeshire border. It’s the far west of our patch, with quick links to Cambridge, and we cover the town and the surrounding villages of the racing country.
